The Artistry Kolektif Istanbul, supports a modern blueprint for bespoke works using centuries old Levant techniques through their growing Kolektif of Istanbul artisans and craftspeople.

Istanbul is a hive of creative activity and there are a few in the city still upholding centuries old traditions. Where do you go to source these traditional pieces, or to find superior crafts people still working to create bespoke and unique designs?

Creative Istanbul

The Artistry Kolektif unearths the stories behind these creative families and their ancestors' work, and then with a network of people in the art world and in the know, we support their creative process and ensure they continue to thrive in a modern context with a global reach.

Anatolian craftsmanship covers glass, bronze, copper, marble, textile, tilework and fabrics. With centuries old creative techniques, Artistry Kolektif works with the artisans to support their work, assist in awareness and in some cases, create bespoke pieces with a modern twist.

A personalised beginning

The concept for Kolektif started as a simple Lale (tulip) watercolour sketch that Sally painted and left with a personal note for Neil, who had it framed and hung in their Cape Town kitchen.

Through Artistry, who support the modern blueprint for bespoke works using centuries old Levant techniques, and their growing Kolektif of Istanbul Artisans and Craftspeople, Sally was fortunate to be introduced to Efe and Guldiz of Terra Madre who specialise in Anatolian Craftsmanship for the table

Their masterful balance of tradition and modernity makes each piece an expression of uniqueness. For Sally and Neil, Terra Madre combined the beauty of bronze with the finest turquoise hued porcelain, to represent Istanbul.
